Featuring 16 tracks, Rave & Roses, Rema debut studio album, was released in 2022 and included contributions from AJ Tracey, Chris Brown, 6LACK, and Yseult. As a result of the success of the project on two fronts, it was significant for both the Nigerian talent and the record industry, peaking at No. 2 on Billboard’s World Albums list.
Rema has been on a roll in recent months, keeping his momentum going with deluxe editions of his albums Rave & Roses and A Sum Of Us. Known as Rave & Roses Ultra, the upgraded album features six additional cuts and a collaboration with Selena Gomez along with some brand new material. As one of his standout performances, “Charm,” he sings about the physical beauty of a female love interest and what he can do to make her happy.
As fans were able to see on Monday (May 22), Rema put together a visual for his highly anticipated track “Charm” featuring Perliks, Folarin Oludare, and Rema all together. “Dumebi” star begins the video with a silhouette shot of the dancer and then switches to silhouette shot of the “Dumebi” star. There are plenty of sexual innuendo throughout, a high-end car, explosions, and plenty of innuendo throughout that all form a perfect complement to the infectious energy of the song.
Rema has not only established herself as one of the most featured artists out of West Africa in the past year, but she has also emerged as one of the most sought after artists out of the region as well. Throughout the course of this timeframe, he has managed to hold his own on a number of noteworthy drops, such as Stormzy “Hide & Seek (Remix),” Clean Bandit “Sad Girls,” Fireboy DML “Compromise,” and Rich The Kid “Yeh Yeh.” He is anticipated to team up with Ice Spice for the track “You & Me,” which will be released next month as part of the soundtrack for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which is being produced by Metro Boomin.
