Earlier this month, Cozz performed in a comeback performance at Dreamville Festival which marked his return to the scene. Now, he has returned with another freestyle to keep things rolling. “WESTSIDE STORY (FREESTYLE),” the latest track from the Los Angeles-based rapper, is a raw, uncut and raw representation of growing up on the streets of Los Angeles. From front to end, he narrates with precision the thread of the tale that is presented on the offering.

The “Knock Tha Hustle” MC Cozz last released a solo project in 2021, which was the Fortunate EP, a seven-track project that also featured a feature from YG. It has been more recently that Dreamville’s ‘D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape’, its ‘2022 collaboration project with DJ Drama, has featured many showstopping verses from him. In addition to guest appearances, he has also taken part in collaborations such as “Eye To Eye” with Lute, “Give N Go” with Smoke DZA, “Play Games Witchu” with Ohana Bam, and most recently, “On Go” with Price.

According to a previous interview with Cozz, the music he has been releasing in recent months has been inspired by the intentions behind it. “You can see where I am at right now a little bit. This is the first step backwards for the system, but it appears to be doing what it was supposed to do. There’s no stopping us from pushing this, boom. It is likely that we will be ready for the second EP sooner rather than later. As long as we keep pushing, we’re going to succeed,” he said.”
