This coming March 3, slowthai will present his third studio album, UGLY, at a showcase in London. The album title translates to “U Gotta Love Yourself.” A press release issued by the British group explains the meaning behind the upcoming album in further detail:
“The public sees you as a person of character. It is important to note that they do not know who you are,” he told me. “A lot of people stereotype you as that weirdo who wears boxers and gets in his boxers. I did that in order for me to show you that you should be able to have fun and be able to enjoy yourself while doing it. However, you do not wish to portray me as an idiot.”
It does not matter what people think about you, no matter who you are or what they think about you; all you have to do is stay true and respect yourself for who you are. Because of the tattoo that I have on my face with the word ‘UGLY’, I am reminded to be positive rather than constantly criticizing myself or thinking that what people believe about me should determine who I am as a person, but rather think what others think about me should determine how I speak and think about myself.”
The release of Slowthai’s latest track, “Feed Good,” follows the release of the rapper’s latest track, “Selfish,” and the release of another joint with Kwes Darko and Sega Bodega. “Feed Good” dives even deeper into the realm of alternative music. This song is one of his most heartfelt tributes to life, in which he thanks God for all he has despite the ongoing pain, a sentiment that many others can easily relate to:
As part of slowthai’s “Feel Good” campaign last year, slowthai reached out to fans who would be interested in participating in the video. The response he received within the United Kingdom reached over 4,000. Uncanny & The Rest, the company responsible for the video production, have now finished the video, presenting the remaining individuals, all of them sitting in their bedrooms listening to the new song which was performed for the new music video that was directed by them. In the middle of the show, slowthai surprises each of the guests, resulting in genuine reactions that leave you cracking up.
