The new Common album, ‘A Beautiful Revolution, Part 2’, is out now

Common has been providing top quality, original content in the booth for nearly three decades now. In the years since his debut album Can I Borrow A Dollar? was released (he was then known as “Common Feel”) nearly two decades ago, he has proven himself as one of the greatest rappers of all time. When all is said and done, Chicago is incredibly lucky to have Common. He will be remembered not just as a lyrical tyrant but also a great humanitarian. Whenever you name the hip hop greats but don’t mention Common, that statement should tell someone everything they need to know about your musical taste. A new project  A Beautiful Revolution, Pt 2.   by the Chicago rapper has been released today (Sept 10)

In comparison with Common’s previous EP, A Beautiful Revolution, this release is just as unique and comprehensive if not more so. True to his reputation as a master freestyler, Justin Credible returned to the LIFTOFF show with the L.A Leakers (DJ Sourmilk and Justin Credible) to create yet another historic moment for Power 106 and the L.A Leakers. Rapping an  eight minute freestyle on Group Home’s “Living Proof,”  and Raekwon’s “Incarcerated Scarface” this was a powerful way to build anticipation for the album. Part II of A Beautiful Revolution features grooves and drum breaks that are distinctly Afrocentric. While it highlights progress and hope, it acknowledges the suffering and pain endured on the way, weaving in and out the spirit of James Brown.

The soundtrack of a new revolution is apparent for those who listen to this great body of work. It’s about uniting against adversity and bringing attention to the struggles of Black people. Ultimately, the song is a celebration of Black pride, with Common at the forefront of the movement in his role as a champion of love, peace, and freedom.
